| personality; Nanao isn’t much of a people person; she dislikes most people because they’re far too chaotic and unpredictable (and some of them are just far too noisy for her tastes. ) She prefers plants and books to people for this reason. Nanao treats her plants like people – conversing with them, learning about their various personalities and temperaments – and feels much more comfortable in the school greenhouses than in the school itself. She is a little shy about this (though she’d die before she’d admit it) and won’t talk to her plants if she knows someone else is there. Nanao is hardly ever seen without a book. Or two. Or three. It’s usually a herbology book, though she has been known to carry a copy of Hogwarts: A History around with her. She’s serious and responsible, and takes any and all of her duties very seriously. She really doesn’t like it when people abuse their authority, or don’t take it seriously. It’s one of the few things that sets her on edge – and can cause her to lose her temper if she gets angry enough. As a teacher she is very strict. She seems to know every single regulation in the school’s rulebook and comes down very harshly on repeat offenders. |
history; Nanao is the only child in a family that comes from a long line of incredibly wealthy purebloods. Her parents had no time for her, so throughout her childhood Nanao was left to the care of house elves and tutors. Before the age of ten she read almost every book in her house’s vast library – filling her head with knowledge and a passion for learning new things. At Hogwarts Nanao easily passed her classes, however she was a recluse, preferring to study rather than try to relate to other people. Books, she found, were easier to relate to than people. She did, however, discover a passion for Herbology and growing things and it quickly became her favourite subject. After she graduated Nanao travelled around the world studying exotic plants and greenery. She stayed in South America for a few years studying rare flowers in the Amazon rainforest, and that was one of the most enjoyable times in her life. Nanao returned to England when her father died last year. Her mother made it very clear that neither of them had liked that she was travelling around the world studying plants, and that unless she got a proper job she would be facing the consequences. Marrying a respectable wizard would go down well too apparently. |
